Chapter 3 – Happy, Thin, and Rich Right Now
“May the peace of the Lord be with you always, because when you possess peace every day, you will be truly rich.”
– Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati
What if everything you’ve been waiting for—peace, happiness, even progress on your health and finances—could start right now, before you reach your goal weight or bank balance? Guess what? It can.
The Peace That Makes You Truly Rich 💛
Our guiding wisdom is the powerful words of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati:
“May the peace of the Lord be with you always, because when you possess peace every day, you will be truly rich.”
We often think peace is a prize waiting at the finish line, but in truth, it’s the starting point! Learning to lean into God’s peace—in any circumstance, whether in a moment of craving or financial worry—is key to real transformation.
Rituals That Restore
Want more peace? Consider participating in the beautiful practices of the Nine First Fridays and Five First Saturdays. These holy days—grounded in the promises of Christ and Our Blessed Mother—are game-changers for interior peace and spiritual growth. Just showing up can begin to reorder your heart and open the door to God’s amazing grace.
Hunger Isn’t the Enemy
When you feel hunger (especially during a fast), see it as “dining in with Jesus.” That gentle hunger is an opportunity:
-
Offer it up for someone you love
-
Allow it to draw you nearer to Christ
-
Know that your sacrifices, small as they may feel, are helping you grow stronger—inside and out
Happy, Thin, and Rich: A Spiritual Reality
Being happy, thin, and rich isn’t just about what you see in the mirror or your bank statement. Start by redefining these words for yourself:
-
Happy: Living in true peace, right now
-
Thin: Shedding emotional and spiritual burdens, not just pounds
-
Rich: Experiencing the mercy and grace of God in every area of your life
The secret? Choose to feel these things ahead of time—with gratitude, imagination, and faith that God is working in you, even if life isn’t “perfect” yet.
Saints Fall, But They Get Back Up
Remember: there’s no such thing as “falling off the wagon.” Every sacrifice, every time you get up and try again, you’re moving from glory to glory. Offer up your struggles. Be compassionate with yourself. Persevere, and let every setback become a prayer for someone in need.
Questions for Reflection:
-
How do you define “happy, thin, and rich” in your life?
-
What does Jesus want for you in these areas?
-
Can you imagine yourself living as the person God created you to be?
Let the Holy Spirit sanctify your dreams and remember – with God, all things are possible!
