“their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.”

Cup of Sugar on Blue Background

A few years ago, I realized that sugar was keeping me hungry all the time and deterring me from spiritually fasting. Through my certifications in two coaching programs (one being a secular weight loss/life coaching school and the other, a Catholic mindset coaching academy) I discovered I could combine all the information from both programs for the win!

The results were unbelievable in both permanent weight loss and in personal breakthroughs in spiritual fasting. This was a win for optimal health and for my faith life.

In this program, I use an eat, fast, feast weekly cycle of eating and delaying sugar until Sunday every week. Because every Sunday is a little Easter.

It is all about the Delay and Pray method— not deny. This is not a diet at all. The weight loss follows the Spiritual Fasting—not the other way around.
This program is focused on eliminating sugar for a period of time to help you spiritually fast during every week of the year for the rest of your life (not just during Lent!)

The reason behind the elimination of sugar is because sugar raises insulin levels in our blood stream, throwing off our hunger signals and hormones in general. This is a huge reason why most people fail at diets. Their bodies are sugar burning and as a result—they are hungry all the time. But, it is so difficult to wrap our heads around giving it up forever! So, how about a little on Sundays to celebrate the Resurrection, and physically/spiritually fasting off sugar during the week? This totally works.

Many of us are literally addicted to sugar. If you eat processed food or fast food—it is filled with sugar as well and the constant stream of insulin in your bloodstream can make fasting off food for a period of time for a spiritual purpose near impossible!

Giving up sugar regularly every week except Sundays helps you slip into spiritual fasting more easily whenever you feel the need to fast or to maintain your routine of fasting. You will still be hungry but not so famished that you can’t do it. Our bodies were not designed for the overeating and overdrinking that is driven by too much sugar.

So, thinking of ditching the sugar for 6 days a week, and hiring a good coach for mindset work so you can actually do it? No worries! Jump on a free mini-session call to discuss the process that can help you get out these patterns by treating both body and soul. After all, the Lord promises in scripture, Matthew 11:30, that:

“My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
