Impossible Goals — Let God Do the Impossible in You

Oct 16, 2025

“Jesus said to them: With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

– Matthew 19:26

What if the goals that seem impossible are the very ones God is inviting you to pursue with Him?

This week, Beth invites us to step out of self-reliance and into divine collaboration by setting what she calls “impossible goals.” These are not just ambitious dreams—they’re sacred opportunities to let God transform you from the inside out.

An impossible goal, Beth explains, is one that feels too big, too far gone, or completely out of reach. It’s the goal that makes you laugh a little and say, “There’s no way I can do that.” And you’re right—you can’t. Not on your own. But with God, you absolutely can.

When we bring God into our goals, especially the ones that challenge our weaknesses, He begins His holy work of renewal—healing our thoughts, emotions, cravings, and habits so we can become who He created us to be.

From Self-Reliance to Surrender
Beth shares candidly about her own battle with self-reliance and how it often stands in the way of spiritual progress. We live in a culture that glorifies independence, but true transformation comes when we let go of control and invite God into every detail of our journey.

Whether it’s fasting, weight loss, prayer routines, or healing old wounds, impossible goals force us to confront our limits—and depend on grace. They help us see that transformation isn’t about perfection but partnership: you and God, shoulder to shoulder, climbing the mountain together.

The Two Impossible Goals: Body and Soul
In her Delay and Pray® coaching program, Beth encourages participants to set two types of impossible goals:

  1. The Impossible Weight Goal – a physical goal that feels out of reach, meant to build trust, discipline, and healing in the body.
  2. The Impossible Spiritual Goal – a goal that stretches the soul, such as forgiving someone, developing consistent prayer, or interceding for a loved one.

These goals go hand in hand. As the body is disciplined through fasting, the soul is strengthened through prayer and surrender. Together, they create balance and bring us closer to God’s plan for wholeness.

When Weakness Becomes the Classroom
Beth shares personal examples—like emotional eating at 4 p.m. or evening snacking while cooking dinner—and shows how failure can actually become data, not defeat. Each moment of struggle reveals a pattern that God wants to heal.

By writing down these experiences, reflecting on them, and praying through them, we begin to see how the Holy Spirit works in our everyday habits. Small decisions—like taking a walk instead of snacking, or praying instead of pouring a glass of wine—become moments of grace.

Over time, these holy habits build virtue: temperance, patience, fortitude, and perseverance.

The Path of Collaboration with God
This journey toward impossible goals isn’t about striving harder—it’s about believing deeper. It’s about showing up daily with faith, even when you fail. Each craving, emotion, or setback becomes a chance to practice trust and obedience.

Beth reminds us of Jesus’ words in Matthew 19:26:

“With God, all things are possible.”

This isn’t just encouragement—it’s a promise. When we give God permission to work in us, He does the impossible through us.

Following Mary’s Example
Beth reflects on the Blessed Mother, who shows us what it means to say yes to the impossible. Her fiat—“Be it done unto me according to thy word”—changed the world. And every time we say yes to God in our fasting, prayer, and perseverance, we imitate her trust and allow Him to work miracles in our own lives.

Start Your Impossible Goals Today
What is your impossible goal? Maybe it’s breaking free from an unhealthy habit, deepening your prayer life, or forgiving someone you thought you never could. Whatever it is, write it down. Offer it to Jesus through Mary.

Then, watch what happens when you let God do the impossible in you.
