Happy New Year!
“The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.“
– Psalm 126:3
January 1st is not only the start of a new year—it is the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. This feast invites Catholics to begin the year not with pressure-filled resolutions, but with gratitude, trust, and a faithful yes to God.
Mary teaches us that holiness is formed through obedience, humility, and surrender in ordinary life. Her quiet yes opened the door for Christ to enter the world, and her example shows us how to invite Him more deeply into our hearts as we begin a new year.
As I step into this New Year, I am intentionally looking back at 2025 with gratitude—recognizing seven meaningful accomplishments and graces God brought forth through faithfulness, perseverance, and surrender. Taking time to honor what God has already done helps anchor the heart in truth and prepares us to receive what He desires to do next.
The Catholic life begins with receptivity. January is a powerful time to recommit to prayer, fasting, and the sacraments as a way of ordering both body and soul toward God. Spiritual fasting helps detach us from habits that distract us and draws us closer to Christ, especially through the Eucharist and Confession.
As we move forward, the invitation is simple: place your plans under Mary’s mantle, trust God’s timing, and walk into the year ahead with faith. This Marian way of living leads to freedom, peace, and a life well lived.
Happy New Year. May Our Lady intercede for you throughout the year ahead.
God bless.
