The Many Benefits of Prayer

Oct 29, 2024

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Prayer helps lower insulin. Prayer helps us lose weight. Prayer helps us figure everything out.

Prayer helps us in so many ways. It is absolutely essential to weight loss and faith gain. But we often skip it first when time gets scarce and life gets hectic. This happens because we think what we “see” in this material world takes precedence over what the supernatural God has to offer us. Intellectually, we know this, but we are hesitant to make it a practical endeavor in our daily lives when we are staring down at our to-do list.

We are talking about time this month in the Keep Fasting Alumni Membership Group. We’ve learned so much about how we spend our time.

This month, I’ve discovered (through lots of failure that has driven me to prayer) that it is prayer that is the foundation to making everything else work. Without God involved in every little thing, I simply want to quit. When I step out in faith to drop into prayer throughout the day and intentionally adopt a receptive attitude with God’s solutions—that is where I find success. Even though I don’t “see” it right away.

Through Him, with Him, and in Him.

No matter what I am feeling, I’m tending to drop into prayer and sacraments more and more.

So, I bet you are wondering how prayer helps lower insulin. I already knew this but I came across a study the other day that proved the point.

The title of the study: It Is Proven That Meditation Lowers Insulin Levels.

Here is a quote from the study done on CAD patients by the NIH:

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 22.9% of total deaths, and is projected to increase to 26.3% by 2030.  [There are 8.2 billion people on the planet so that means that the estimated death toll from CAD will be 2.1 million people worldwide.]

In the present study, it was concluded that there is significant decrease in the blood sugar and glycosylated hemoglobin levels in CAD patients practicing meditation for a period of 6 months and significant increase in fasting serum insulin levels in CAD patients not practicing meditation.

Wow! The study goes on to say that the drop in insulin significantly affects the mortality rate in a positive way. Think of combining the prayer with the delay of sugar, flour, and alcohol, and you can see that the combination is a great help in figuring out how to spiritually fast with the Delay and Pray® Method.

As we know, less blood sugar means less insulin response. And, since stress increases insulin, it makes sense that meditation in prayer decreases the insulin. This study cited intentional mediation, journaling, compassion with themselves, forgiveness, appreciation, and connection to others as contributing factors, too.

As Catholics, we can deduce that that intentional meditation for us is in the Sacraments: Adoration, Mass, and Confession. And, prayer – especially the Rosary and Scripture. This foundational basis of our Religion would seem to have an even greater supernatural impact. This is what we believe.

These supernatural gifts are given to us by God so that we will have Peace amidst the Chaos. What if these practices lower our insulin, bolstered by our whole food protocols, but also heal our wounds, change perspective, build virtue, slow breathing and heart rate, and bring about a sense of calm all while growing closer to God and his mighty power. We can also ask Him to answer our practical answers to questions about what to eat, when, and how. Food is insanely important to living a true, good, and beautiful life. God cares about what you are eating!

He will answer in time. He leads me to the most fascinating videos and books to study to get really good results with the Delay and Pray® Method.

My advice for the coming months is to ground yourself in prayer – lots of prayer.

It is the only way to truly let God heal your body and soul.
