motivation is key

“have I not commanded you? be strong and courageous! do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Motivation brings the power to the fasting. Let’s face it—there are going to be moments of hunger, whether that is emotional or physical hunger, where you will need to summon fortitude to stay on protocol and keep your fast.

It is in these times that you will want to keep in mind why you are fasting in the first place. This is the “Why that makes you cry!” This is the goal work that keeps you yoked with Jesus in massive action and believing in yourself until the goals are reached!

If you are not motivated to Spiritually Fast then you won’t do it. You can have all the coaching and expensive tools in the world, but you won’t do it without a HUGE motivational factor. What is your motivation?

In this program, I suggest Two Motivational Goals:

  • A Weight loss goal to help you physically fast and give you data to measure success.
  • Someone and/or some breakthrough in your life that is really important to you to spiritually fast for.

In Choosing a Weight Loss Goal—This program shifts the use of the scale as a tool of self-worth to just a tool for measuring your fasting success and insulin management.

You learn to treat yourself with love and compassion while weighing yourself every day. Your thoughts about your weight according to the scale shift from a measure of your self-control and self-worth to just a tool to help you get curious about why you eat or drink what you do and how to change it over time.

You begin to learn that failing is part of the beautiful, courageous process of reaching all of your goals. Just like a child learning to ride a bike, permanent weight loss is a skill. Our bodies are unique, created by God in his image and likeness.

Each body needs something a little different. You will need to try and fail quite a bit to see what your body best responds to. Along the journey, you can treat yourself with compassion and love while you traverse this glorious path here on earth.

In Choosing a Spiritual Fasting Goal—Our ultimate goal is being in Heaven with Jesus. In between now and Heaven we can spiritually fast for others to acquire as much virtue as possible to ultimately get us there.

I suggest choosing a specific desired breakthrough that you can imagine and believe that can happen in the future. This is key. This is more important than the weight loss goal.

Examples that I have coached clients on are:

  • Health problems
  • Eradication of Covid and vaccine issues
  • Husbands and children returning to Mass
  • Financial breakthroughs
  • Career Changes
  • National Issues of democracy and elections
  • Law changes—Right to Life Issues
  • Fasting for Priests
  • Anything that really touches your heart!

Pick one. Pick two. Write them down, join the Catholic Fasting Community, and watch God work with you and through you today!
