Let Freedom Ring!

Jul 4, 2024

“Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer.”

– Psalms 144:1-2

Happy 4th of July! I love this holiday! It represents all that we stand for as human beings – freedom. We know that our true freedom comes from Jesus Christ through a deep relationship with Him through His Blessed Mother.

But there is exterior freedom, too. And this freedom to actually do what we ought is imperative to the Body of Christ. We must work for this exterior freedom to do what is virtuous and to live out the values of our faith.

At The Catholic Fasting Coach, we always fast for freedom over the summer and schedule small fasts over the week of 4th of July in honor of freedom for our country.

Don’t let that scare you. This is a week of celebration, but moderation in eating and drinking can be practiced over any holiday with joy. There is no wagon when Jesus Christ is involved.

My husband and I are currently on pilgrimage, spending today at the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in France. We are praying for healing of body and soul for all of you, our family, and ourselves – healing from food addiction and all addictions. We are praying for deeper conversion and love of God.

The Blessed Mother urgently asks us to fast and pray for the church, the nation, and the whole world. She is calling us to bring all people back to the heart of Jesus. This is our first task and duty as Catholics and Christians.

The Holy Spirit recently led me to think of the Liberty Bell. It has a crack in it if you recall. This is a beautiful saying by L. Cohen (pictured above). We must ring the bell of prayer and fasting to keep our liberty and do it with a heavenly perspective.

My beautiful friend, Vicky Smith says:
When you see a crack, expect light!
When you see a dark sky – expect the brightness of the stars.
When you experience a storm – anticipate the rainbow to come.

And I will add:
When you are hungry and praying – expect miracles to happen.
Don’t let your cracks and imperfections prevent you from praying and fasting.
Let the bell ring! Let freedom ring! Enjoy this episode and enjoy today.
