Late Have I Loved You with John Michael Talbot
“Gluttony is cured by daily, moderate fasting.”
– St. John Chrysostom
Today I sit down with an amazing guest who is world famous and I feel like I have known all my life through his music.
John Michael Talbot is a Catholic author, musician, and the founder of Brothers and Sisters of Charity. His new book and album, Late Have I Loved You are magnificent pieces of art.
In this conversation, you will not only hear his story but also my story of how he so beautifully held me up with his music during a very difficult time in my life.
John Michael Talbot began his career as a musician in a rock band, and now he is most famously known as a Catholic folk musician and so much more! But his journey is worth hearing because he shares that contemplation with Jesus is the most important thing you could ever do and how he discovered this most important thing that we all need to learn in this era of doing, doing, doing.
His career involved touring with the Birds and many other rock bands back in the 70’s and 80’s. Through all of this, he had a conversion, and eventually became Catholic.
He is known for his music but he is so much more.
He stresses the importance of the mystical and contemplative dimension in his life, emphasizing the need for artists to enter deeply into prayer and trust in God’s Will in using the gift that he has given them.
His book and latest album encourage us to trust in God and despite the uncertainties of the future of this nation, to remain faithful to the Catholic faith and trust in God’s plan.
Listen to the very end to hear the monastic way of fasting and the similarities to the Delay and Pray™ program. It is simple and powerful, and it is what we practice.
Remember, prayer in the form of the sacraments and contemplation must come first in your life if you are to truly be successful with spiritual fasting. I can show you how to do this.
